Godiva Chocolates – The Bucket List January 22, 2010

My first gourmet chocolate was Godiva. That was dinosaur ages ago and I won’t say HOW long,
but let’s just say that the song by Mark Wills “Nineteen Somethin’” really MEANS something to me .

I was a young teenager and my aunt gave me a small box of chocolate.
More recently, I received a box for Christmas. With my Bucket List of Chocolates the taste testing takes on a whole new meaning!

The history of Godiva Chocolate can be found at their website . I find the story about how the company chose the name Godiva especially interesting (1926).

Godiva Chocolate is still synonymous with elegant chocolate. And the pieces I enjoyed over the past 4 weeks were no disappointment! Each piece of milk chocolate was smooth. I found especially surprising was the raspberry filled piece.

A brief tour around their website also led me to some new adventures I need to add to my list. The picture of the Godiva chocolate cupcake is mouthwatering!

Now to the next adventure! A chocolate from our European neighbors!

Time to share with you my bucket list of eating the Top 10 Chocolates, as decided upon by the National Geographic!
My first introduction to Jacques Torres Chocolate was through a co-worker. She brought in a small box of the chocolates which she had received from her daughter – who happens to work for Jacques Torres! I knew there must be something special about the chocolate when she opened the top of the box and said “pick ONE” (I’m thinking, only ONE??)
The box had one of those little tri-fold inserts with pictures, so I picked out one. I truthfully cannot even remember the name of it. But I remember the result. PURE and wonderful. The chocolate was like a hug to my tongue.
It was very creamy – very smooth – and OH SO YUMMY.
When the coworker came back from New York for the New Year, she brought some more goodies from Jacque. Chocolate covered Cheerios (don’t knock until you have tried it!) I also tried some of his caramels. She told me that in anything in which he uses peanut butter – the peanut butter has been made there at his store. I suppose that may be the next on the list!

My Bucket List – Eat Chocolate January 7, 2010

Actually, more specifically eat a sample of The Nation Geographic’s “10 Best of Everything” in
the Chocolate Category. I have always loved chocolate. There isn’t a Dark, Light, Milk, White or
anything else chocolate that I won’t try at least once. There is something about how a good chocolate
hugs your tongue.

Here is the list:
Teuscher
Bodega
Scharffen Berger Chocolate Maker
Jacques Torres Chocolate
Norman Love Confections
Valrhona
Godiva Chocolates
Richard Donnelly Fine Chocolates
Puccini Bomboni

More to follow on the journey. I already get to tell you about two! Some of these are in Europe, so I need to figure out how to get them to me!
I encourage YOU to find something YOU love and..DO IT!
