Listen for the Mulberry Trees May 31, 2010

Filed under: Inspirational — Kim Steadman @ 2:42 pm

Yesterday’s patriotic sermon was about King David of the Old Testament.
The scriptures were about his battle against the Philistines – a constant source of aggravation for the children of Israel.

Usually battle is from the front – a head long charge into the enemy camp.
In fact, the previous battle had been won with this tactic.

But in this particular passage, 2 Samuel 5:17-25 God told David to sneak around behind the enemy and hide in the forest of trees. And Wait. Wait until you hear the sounds of marching in the top of the trees. Then David would know that God had gone ahead of him in the battle and Philistines would be defeated.

We all have the attitude and some times that we know the best way to handle a situation. That we need to take matters in our own hands and charge head first into the battle to do it our way. And how many times does “our way” just lead to more confusion or trouble?

Next time, think about the other “David Tactic”. Step back and wait. Wait for a clear direction…
Wait for the marching in the tree tops.

The power of words May 20, 2010

A dear friend sent me an email last week.

The email contained information about Dr. Masaru Emoto, a Japanese scientist who believes that
positive words have power.

The study he conducted involved exposing water droplets to various words, music and environments. Then, he froze them for three hours after which he examined the crystal formations under a special microscope. And the photographed them.

The results are amazing.

A water droplet without any prayer sort of looked like a blob. A water droplet with prayer looked like
what we usually see as a snowflake.
The same happened when the water was exposed to heavy metal music. It looked frazzled. Whereas a water droplet exposed to classical music looked like fluffy and pristine snowflake.
It wasn’t only for water.

Dr. Emoto also experimented with cooked rice.
He placed one cup of cooked rice in two airtight jars. On one jar, he wrote, “I love you,” and on the other, “You fool.” Everyday for 30 days, Dr. Emoto would say these words to each jar of rice.
After 30 days, the “I love you” rice was still white. But the “You fool” rice was so rotten, it was black.

How is this explained? Some google research says his study is a farce.

But, I know that I’ve read that dairy farmers play classical music in the milking barns to keep the cows calm.
I know they say, and I did it, to play classical and gentle music to your child while still in the womb.

I also know that the bible says in Proverbs 25:11 that” A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.”

So, with our body being made up 72% of water imagine how your own words affect your body.
When you say, “I’m a failure,” or “I’m hopeless,” or “I won’t get well,” or “I can’t do this” imagine how these words weaken your health and your mind.
Make a choice to say the best words out there. Say often, “I’m wonderful,” “I’m beautiful,” “I’m God’s child,” and “God has a great plan for my life!” and “I CAN do this!”

Be blessed and let goodness reign in your life!

Have you ever said those words:
No How No Way am I doing that….

Sometimes change is a good thing though!
You know, the only person that likes change is a
wet baby.

Change your NO HOW attitude to
KNOW How!
I KNOW How I’m going to change this or that…
and do it!

We need to be more childlike April 5, 2010

Think about it –

Anne Frank

Helen Keller

Pocahantas

Three young people who did not let inhibitions stop them.
They endured hardships but pursued their dreams.

We need to step out of our adult mind -
the mind that over thinks.
the mind that over analyzes.
the mind that hold you back.
the mind that stops dreaming.

There is something to that whole “Connect with your inner child” theory!

The Entrepreneur’s Prayer March 26, 2010

The Entrepreneur\'s Prayer
^^ Click the above to hear song for the prayer!

As I awaken with the gift of yet another day and prepare for the
tasks at hand, I offer up this most ardent prayer:

I pray for continued clarity of purpose so that I may hold my
vision steady and keep my focus on the needs and success of
others, which in turn shall bring me my success.

I pray for the wisdom to expect abundance in my life, that it
surrounds me and is available for the taking and to be shameless
and unapologetic upon its receipt, for I deserve abundance.

I pray for a cheerful countenance, be it clear or cloudy skies
and that I may radiate and infect others with my positive
attitude.

I pray for the trust of others that they may recognize my
sincerity and true intentions so that we may move forward
together.

I pray for the strength to fend off adversity and use my desire
and determination as both weapon and shield.

I pray for the courage to carry forth my convictions during the
battle of business and to resist temptation to a quicker monetary
result when such temptation compromises these things for which I
stand.

I pray that I may be used as a lightning rod to collect the
amazing ideas already present in the universe and when blessed
with such inspiration, that I may be able to apply my talents and
abilities to turn the power of thought into measurable
advancement of my goals.

I pray to retain my childhood wonder so that I can recognize and
revel in the small miracles of each day that others may miss.

I pray for an infinite supply of self-confidence for it alone
fortifies faith, strengthens my resolve and conquers the largest
enemy I will ever face – fear.

I pray for a compassionate spirit and the patience to offer those
who seek my advice and my help, my full and undivided attention.

I pray for good health and a feeling of well being, and the
continued desire to improve those areas of my physical life I may
be neglecting in the name of my spiritual and entrepreneurial
advancement.

I pray that today is a day of excellence and at its conclusion I
can acknowledge and be grateful for the forward motion I have
made and the growth I have experienced.

I pray most of all for the understanding and support of those
closest to my heart, my family, that they will equate what may
seem like endless hours of apparent pre-occupation with affairs
of business to what is at the very core of my being, that which
drives me, for once I achieve what I have set out in its fullest,
I will become that more complete being I strive to be.

It is for these things that I pray, for I am an entrepreneur.

Top “But” Reduction Techniques

You have decided that NOW is the time to reduce your
“but” in 2010.

How many times in past have you said,
“I would ________, but ______”

You fill in the blanks!

Don’t let your BUT hold you back in 2010.

Do some “BUT” reduction!

The Gift of Forget December 24, 2009

This year, give yourself the gift of “Forget”.

Forget the things you didn’t accomplish last year – move to the Future
this year. Make your promises to yourself. Write down your goals.
Move forward to making it happen in Twenty Ten!

Forget the wrongs done against you and move to the Future. Dwelling
on the past is dwelling on something that has already been slept on,
dealt with, thought about, finished, used up, and thrown away. Don’t
let bitterness keep you stuck in the past! Forget it and move FORWARD.

Forget the bad memories. Quit replaying them in your mind’s theater.
Move to the Future with NEW memories.

Imagine your mind as a huge sticky note pad. You know the kind that you
are always writing things on in order to “remember”. Well, make your
“Forget Pad”. Write down things you need to “Forget” so you can move
forward. Write them down and then THROW THEM AWAY! I mean DO it!
Slam Dunk style into the trash can.

Forget and move to the Future of Twenty Ten!

Don’t have a Fast Forward Christmas December 22, 2009

Don’t have a Fast Forward Christmas

Have you ever heard the phrase “living life in the fast lane?”
I was thinking about that earlier this week. This “instant” society
we are a part of. Things can be so quick and instant.

Do you know you could cook and eat 3 meals and 2 snacks in less than
30 minutes a day if you tried? Think about it – zap a pop tart for
30 seconds, and eat it in as many. Then later zap a frozen dinner for
lunch in 5 minutes, eat in 5 minutes, then repeat for supper. Maybe
munch down a banana later in the day for a snack with a 1 TB of
peanut butter.

And how about the fact that you can live through an entire day and
not come in contact with a person. You can fill up your gas tank
at a pump and swipe your card. You can order a meal through the
drive through and hand your card at the window, not ever speaking
to the person in the window. You can drop off your dry cleaning
to a lock box, and retrieve your clothes later, paying at the swipe
machine at the box. You can go buy groceries and pay in the
self serve express lane. A person can fast forward through life
on an almost “daily” basis and not experience the fun of
“people”.

And for the “Grinches” ..It is possible to fast forward through
Christmas.
Let’s take Christmas Carols – Just sing the first phrase
and you can sing out the jest of the songs in less than
2 minutes..
Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Jingle all the way…
Oh Little Town of Bethlehem..
We Wish You a Merry Christmas…
Silent Night, Holy Night…
Santa Claus is Coming to Town…

You can stir your fiber into a glass (rather than taking the time
to eat it). You can drink your egg nog as a creamer in your
coffee. You can drink a meal in a shake…..

Get my drift? You can fast forward through life , zipping
along and MISS IT.

Well, I can tell you that this coming year of 2010
will be one where I will slow down and not go zipping
by! I’ve learned many lessons in the past 6 months that
I intend on being life lessons.

I encourage you to do the same! Have you ever heard the
saying “Take time to smell the roses?” TRY IT!

Movies about… Creativity December 17, 2009

Leonardo da Vinci is well known for his creati...

Under the Tuscan Sun
Julie & Julia
The Bucket List
Something’s Gotta Give
Dead Poet’s Society

What do these movies have in common? Can you think of a common thread?
They each have an element of Creativity as part of the story line.
Blocked creativity, or needing to explore new avenues, or just needing a new idea?
Perhaps a movie night is in order to “get the creative juices going”.

Do you have any other movie suggestions? I would LOVE to hear them!
