Opportunity only knocks once, right? May 27, 2010

Some say opportunity knocks only once.

I think it knocks all the time, you just aren’t listening.

But I think some folks wait for opportunity to come smashing through their door with arms flailing and looking wild eyed.

That only happens around our house when someone sees a snake =)

Today’s motto: LISTEN

You can read more about it on my “Green” blog
Hay Bale Garden

But, a funny story..
So I’m outside watering my ‘Hay Bale Garden’ . When I come in, hubby asked if I saw that man standing at the back fence (which is chainlink) watching me. I never saw him, but hubby said he stood there for a long time. I’m sure he was thinking ‘WHY in the world is that crazy lady watering bales of hay’. Be prepared. Sometimes you will do things that appears to others to be NUTTY. But it DOES have a purpose!

My Body by Vi Challenge – 1 Week May 14, 2010

1 week and 2 pounds lighter!
I LOVE these smoothie shakes! Actually, it’s almost as if I CRAVE them.
I was not one to eat my daily portions of fruit. This is one way
that I am eating my fruits – in a YUMMO way!

I bought frozen slice strawberries and frozen mango chunks.
I also bought bananas and sliced them up, placed them in a container.
I’ve had combos of strawberries, mangoes and bananas.

Gosh, writing about it makes me WANT one…. Which is a GOOD thing
because mixing the powder and fruit without the milk makes a
GREAT high protein snack!

Have you ever said those words:

Sometimes change is a good thing though!
You know, the only person that likes change is a

Are you a chicken or a pig? March 17, 2010

Filed under: Uncategorized — Kim Steadman @ 3:22 am

Here at “our house on the hill on the edge of the city near the country” we enjoy an old fashioned breakfast on some Saturday mornings. The menu will consist of toast, milk, eggs, bacon and whatever other goodies I decide to cook. In fact, a few years ago I actually raised some chickens and gathered eggs! But the coyotes had a chicken dinner one night and that was the end of my “chicken” career.

I read the phrase of the title a couple of days ago…Did some googling about the parable….
And then thought about the meaning….

A chicken is a participant in the breakfast. She is involved as the egg was produced, but the chicken only donated to the “cause”.
However, the pig…. well, unless it’s TURKEY bacon, then that PIG is committed to that breakfast. I mean, that PIG is DEAD DOG (a Texas phrase) committed. There is NO turning back.

So, when it comes to your life. Are you a chicken or a pig?
When it comes to your business, are you a chicken or a pig?
When it comes to your family, are you a chicken or a pig?

Do you Cluck or do you SQUEAL with delight!?

Think about it!!

I watched a bird flapping against the wind today March 12, 2010

It was a STRONG wind here in Texas.
That little bird was flapping and flapping and absolutely NOT
going anywhere. But he kept on flapping.
I had to step away from the window for only a split second,
and when I got back – he was GONE.

That got me to thinking. Why DO birds fly against the wind?
Why not GIVE UP? Perch on a limb? Go play in a puddle of water?
Land? WHY keep flapping and flapping and flapping and not moving
anywhere?

I googled. I found lots of “scientific” websites about bird flight
which were way over my head (no pun intended).

But you know what the bottom line was? The bird knows it
wants to get from point A to point B and the only way to get
there is to fly the direction it needs to go. It may be that
is against the wind (a harder journey) or it may be the wind
to it’s back (a faster journey). Against the wind or with the
wind – either way, the bird must keep the destination in mind
and FLAP. Eventually, the gust of wind will subside – the bird
will have momentum build up from all the flapping and
the bird will WILL get there.
If it had given up, then it would need to start all over.

Don’t give up! Keep FLAPPING!

Dr. Phil and your MLM business March 2, 2010

I don’t watch Dr. Phil.
Actually, I don’t watch any of those shows that usually end up
in a mud slinging, “she said – he said”, finger pointing and folks
bemoaning all their problems. Why? Because I have my
own issues and I don’t need to hear negative from everyone else.

BUT, he has a famous line….
When folks have been trying to justify something that they
have been doing, he will usually look over at them, with
eyebrow’s raised (or so the couple of clips that I’ve seen and
what folks have told me) and say,

“So, how’s that been working for you?”

So, as a reminder today I would just like to sit back, take a deep
breath, and “analyze” your business…

If you have been CONSISTENTLY working your business a
certain way…
“So, how’s that been working for you?”

If you have been using one certain way to advertise your
business..
“So, how’s that been working for you?”

If you have been using one certain way to harvest leads
and introduce your business to prospects…
“So, how’s that been working for you?”

The questions could go on and on….
But my “platform” for this morning is..
If you’ve been getting what you are getting,
and you don’t like the results…
Is it maybe time to change some things?

Analyze your consistent efforts and look at the results
you have been getting….
“So, how’s that been working for you?”

And if you don’t like it – seek guidance – read – listen to the pros -
and see if maybe you need to do a reality check…
And make some changes.

Remember, change is GOOD (ask a baby with a dirty diaper

Who are some industry leaders to get you on track
with your business? Here are a couple that will
get you started in the right direction!

Meet…Your Theme for 2010 January 5, 2010

Cairns Birdwing, the largest butterfly in Aust...

Ok, I’ll confess. I like themes. I like theme songs. I liked theme birthday parties when I was a kid. I liked planning theme parties for my son. I like theme “rooms” in my house. Themes are FUN.

Now, with that little tidbit aside, I think I would like to give my Year of 2010 a theme.

Remember, a good story has a theme from which the story is built and the message is delivered. The questions are answered. A book with a successful theme “connects” and all the aspects of the book make sense.

So, I am thinking that giving myself an annual theme it will become a statement for me to keep coming back to all year
An annual theme would have to do with either a mantra that motivates me, an area in life that I want to improve or a passion that I want to live on a more regular basis. It can be whatever you want it to be.

Over the holidays I read several books, articles and blogs and one theme “the long road begins with one step…”. Well, 2010 will be a year of several steps as they start coming to a finality…Our son will be close to graduating college, he is engaged and will be marrying 1/1 of 2011, my road to making clear goals, to name a few. My goal is “Faith of the Heart”. I envision a glorious butterfly emerging from it’s cocoon getting ready for flight. I can hear the song “Faith of the Heart” in my mind, and have it as my #1 song on my daily “motivational mp3 playlist”

Here are some things to help you choose your 2010 theme:

* List 10 goals you have for the upcoming year. Look for common themes within these goals.
* Think about what riches you want added to your life, perhaps a new relationship or more depth to current relationships.
* Give yourself a theme song, something that when you hear it, it helps you to focus on your intentions.
* What are the passions that you want to focus more time and energy on? Let one of these be your guide for the year.

I’m at a point in my life where I feel a real focus when I get up in the morning. I know what needs to be done, I love living my life, and I am expecting more this year!

My 2010 theme is, “Faith of the Heart” with the soundtrack of the song from the Star Trek shows or from Patch Adams

What’s yours?

Ready to Evolve in 2010 December 30, 2009

I was reading an email today about “resolutions”. It pretty much
mirrored my own belief now that resolutions just don’t produce
results. They are so mechanical. A list. At one point earlier in the
month I even decided to not make “resolutions” but to call them
“promises” to myself.
However, that was before I read a short email about not so
much as a “resolution” as an Evolution!

You see, as we get closer to the year 2010 (3 days), most of us
think about about new year ‘resolutions’…

But, let’s not think about a ‘resolution’ as much as
it is about ‘evolution’!

A resolution is a mechanical commitment you’ve
got to keep, whereas evolution is an emotional
commitment that keeps you!

For example, I am not interested in a resolution
to lose X pounds in 2010 (yikes), as much as I
am interested in evolving into a person of greater
respect for my body…

I am not interested in reading X number of self
development books in 2010 so much as
evolving into a person who is more confident,
better equipped to help others see their value,
and friendlier.

So, let’s rethink our “resolutions” and “promises”
to ourselves.

What’s on your 2010 EVOLUTION list?
